Taxicabs, Airport Shuttles, and Buses
Ann Arbor has many cab companies, but it is difficult to just “hail” a cab in Ann Arbor. Typically you need to call the company, and they will come pick you up. There is a “Taxi Stand” in front of the Michigan Union where you can often find a taxi without calling ahead. Click here for a listing of cabs.
If you are flying in to Detroit Metro Airport, there are many shuttles that travel between Detroit Metro Airport and Ann Arbor. Click here for a listing of airport shuttles.
We encourage you to utilize the buses as much as possible. Ann Arbor has two bus systems: University of Michigan blue buses and The Ride white buses. The University of Michigan buses are free, and routes cover most of Central, South, and North campuses. Click here for U-M bus route details, or just travel the buses with your student. The Ride bus routes cover the city of Ann Arbor and some of the surrounding areas. The Ride is free for U-M students with UMID, but parents will need to pay the $1.50 fare. Visit www.theride.org for route details. On Friday, The Ride routes should be on their normal schedules. However on Saturday, some of the routes will be on detour due to the football game. Be sure to check www.theride.org for details.
The Ride also offers Football Shuttles on Saturday, which take you directly from local hotels and central parking areas to Michigan Stadium. Click here for more information about these shuttles.

There are many items that are prohibited from Michigan Stadium, including bags of all kinds (including purses), bottles (including water bottles), containers of any kind, umbrellas, seat backs, cameras with lenses over 6 inches, video cameras, alcohol, food, and much, much more.
